What is Parent Coaching?
Parent Coaching is a structured parenting strategy that covers four significant areas of parenting (safety, security, structure, support):
Role of the Parent Coach
Parent Coaches are knowledgeable in child, adolescent, and young adult development (emotional, social, physical, moral, cognitive) and compassionate parenting practices, who serve an important supportive role to parents and caregivers. Parents Zone virtual parent coaches provide emotional support, share child development knowledge, link parents to useful parenting resources, and teach skills that will enhance parent-child relationships and parenting effectiveness.

4 Pillars of Parenting
Safety
behavioral challenges
discusses parenting strategies that address the provision of protection from unintended/intended threats to the environment; the experiences interfere with natural external factors (i.e. basic needs of food and shelter; healthy habits)
Security
emotional challenges
discusses parenting strategies that address the provision of protection from unintended/intended threats to one's personhood; the experiences interfere with natural internal factors (i.e. emotional wellness; identity; self-esteem)
Structure
boundary setting
incorporates modeling as a parenting practice that creates healthy emotional and physical limits within the parent-child relationship to foster safety and security (i.e. technology; discipline; communication)
Support
parent/caregiver self-care
provides a non-judgmental space that acknowledges how "parenting is a roller-coaster and there is no preparing for this experience"; viewing parenting from the "oxygen mask on the airplane" perspective creates space for implementing the compassionate parenting approach
